The twelfth annual Carnival der Kulturen in Bielefeld takes place on June 6 and 7. This year's theme is "Call of Nature". The parade will take place on at 3pm on Sunday the 7th beginning on Schloßhofstraße and ending in Ravensburger Park. At 5:30pm the parade participants will present themselves on the stage in the park. All other parties and activities surrounding the carnival are listed at

Steel Drum Projekt „Big Pan“
The Pan Groove Steel Orchestra from Bielefeld/Detmold and the Steel Orchester Port of Pan Bielefeld/Ostwestfalen present their joint project.
Together Port of Pan and Pan Groove bring 40 steel pans and 20 players to the stage or the truck. The band leader, Peter Wröbel, has arranged a repertoire of Caribbean, South American and Afro-American musical elements. Styles like Calypso, Soca, Reggae and Salso belong to the mix and guarantee a rhythmic listening pleasure.

Tropical Isles will be presenting their theme for 2008, I Have a Dream. Over the years Tropical Isles has built up a high reputation engaging young people within the community with dance performances, costume design, craft, and carnival creative arts, youth regional and international touring programme. The main objectives of the organisation are to empower young people to develop their self esteem, confidence and raise their level of educational attainment. Whilst providing a supportive environment for children and parents/ guardians from all cultural backgrounds.
